In dire situations, under economic strain, or due to external pressures, people often abandon their faith and cultural roots.

Predatory proselytisation, unfortunately, is a common and dangerous phenomenon in our country. Vulnerable individuals often find themselves lured into the trap of religious conversion. Shankarpur village, situated in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, is an example of this situation.

Despite the state’s overall economic growth, Shankarpur remains left behind. The village predominantly comprises Dalit and backward caste populations, with most residents working as labourers. Surviving under such conditions is undeniably challenging. Opportunistic religious conversion networks actively target these disempowered individuals, encouraging them to abandon their religious beliefs in favour of another faith.

Recognising the plight of Shankarpur, the Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation stepped in to make a difference. Our team observed the village’s children, who displayed eagerness and enthusiasm for education. Among their aspirations, learning English stood out. Consequently, we established a free education center in Shankarpur, where children can access quality education. Additionally, we emphasize cultural education.

By shaping the minds of today’s youth, we aim to create a brighter future for Shankarpur. At SNU, we are committed to doing everything within our capacity to uplift this village and provide a better present and future for its people.
