Help Us Make Campuses Free of Sexual Grooming and Exploitation.

From an engineering college of Bhopal, horrifying incidents surfaced in April 2025 – sexual grooming, communal targeting, drugging, blackmail, rape, trafficking and forced religious conversions.

Three FIRs were filed within a week.

National Human Rights Commission member Priyank Kanoongo flagged the possibility of organised criminal networks operating behind these patterns.

Our urgent response was to launch an on-campus educational program.

Our Program

In July 2025, Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation, along with NAMO Foundation, launched an educational program to make hundreds of campuses in Bhopal:

Ragging-Free
Gender-Safe
Communally Secure

After a highly successful run in the first year,
this program, titled Sankalp, has now entered
its second year.

On 18 November 2025, the Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh issued an official order directing government, aided, and private colleges and universities in Bhopal district to extend cooperation for the implementation of this program.

Why It Matters

College should be a place of learning – not fearmanipulation or coercion.

Our program is about ensuring no young woman is ever druggedblackmailed or forced to convert again, simply because she trusted a peer or classmate.

Awareness is the first line of defence.

Hindustan Times, May 2025:
‘The Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh has set up a Special Investigation Team to investigate cases of targeted “love traps” and forced religious conversions, especially of vulnerable college girls and women.’

The Hindu, April 2025:
‘Two men were arrested for using fake IDs to rape, blackmail, and coerce Bhopal college girls into forced conversions. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the case thoroughly under multiple laws, including the POCSO Act and Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.’

The Hindu, April 2025:
‘NCW has set up a panel led by former DGP to investigate the organized rape, blackmail, and forced conversions in the Bhopal college case.’

India Today, April 2025:
‘Two men were arrested in Bhopal for raping, blackmailing sisters, and forcing one to convert to Islam using ‘recorded videos’ as threats.’
