She spoke on how the young are targeted, groomed and drawn into deeper influence and radicalisation online and how families and young people can recognise the warning signs early and protect themselves. Sewa Nyaya Utthan, in partnership with NAMO Foundation, has been running an on-campus program in Bhopal to educate students about gender crimes and sexual grooming. This program trained 10,000 students across 200 campuses in its first year of operation and has now extended into the second year. This week, over 300 students of the Laxmipati Institute of Science and Technology in Bhopal received the training.

The children are enrolled at a study centre run by a Divyang individual named Rajkumar in Okhla Phase 2, and receive free education and a one-time meal daily. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀’𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝗮𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗿 A member of our team, herself a survivor of human trafficking, filed a complaint with NHRC seeking registration of an FIR over a Bollywood actress’s public remarks that described the historical practice of Jauhar as a cowardly act. On the complaint, the National Human Rights Commission took cognisance and Priyank Kanoongo himself intervened. We stand with our colleague and are pressing for the matter to be taken to its conclusion.

𝟓. 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟱𝟬 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗝𝗼𝗱𝗵𝗽𝘂𝗿, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 We organised a special self-defence workshop for over 50 schoolchildren at Narnadi Secondary School in Jodhpur. Our team drilled them in practical self-defence and taught them to tell safe touch from unsafe, to read a threat early and to act instead of freeze when alone or in danger. The work runs under the mentorship of Sanjeev Newar.

𝟔. Over 150 Pakistani Hindu refugee and other underprivileged children continued their daily martial arts training at our full-time Jodhpur centre. We run the centre free of cost for children and youth from refugee and other underprivileged communities.

On our complaint, the National Human Rights Commission took cognisance and called on the Dhamtari administration in Chhattisgarh to inquire and submit an Action Taken Report over a racket that lured vulnerable and unwell residents of Risaipara to change their religion with false promises of cure through prayer. The event was held under the guise of a prayer meeting, and local objections brought the police to the spot. We sought a time-bound and impartial investigation, strict action against those responsible and protection for the affected families from coercion and harassment.

On our SC/ST Cell’s complaint, the National Human Rights Commission took cognisance and directed the North West Delhi administration and police to inquire and submit an Action Taken Report into a man who obtained a Scheduled Caste certificate while professing Islam and used it to secure employment in the Army and draw a pension. Scheduled Caste status and its benefits are available only to those professing Hinduism, Sikhism or Buddhism, in line with Para 3 of the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950. We sought cancellation of the certificate, revocation of the pension and service benefits, recovery of the funds disbursed and criminal action against the accused and any officials who facilitated the fraud. 𝟗. 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝗛𝗥𝗖 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗷, 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗽𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟱𝟬

We took to the National Human Rights Commission the communal violence in Masanganj, under the Kotwali Police Station limits in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, where clashes, arson and heavy stone-pelting on public streets and near the police station left more than 50 people injured, among them civilians and police personnel. We pressed for a time-bound and impartial investigation to identify and arrest all those who instigated the violence and carried out the assaults and the stone-pelting, for state-assisted medical relief and compensation for the victims and for stronger preventive security across sensitive localities. The matter is now before the Commission.

𝟏𝟎. 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗻𝗶 𝗗𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻, 𝗗𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘄

We filed an official complaint over an alleged unlawful religious conversion at a gathering in Bhatni Dadan village, under the Mahuadih Police Station in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. The gathering was held at a residence under the guise of a prayer meeting, and residents objected after finding religious symbols of another faith at the altar. The police took three persons into custody. We sought an inquiry under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act into whether inducements or coercion were used and verification of the caste status of the accused, so that any Scheduled Caste benefits obtained while facilitating conversion can be examined for cancellation.

Unlawful conversion mafias are a demographic threat that the Home Ministry has taken up as a top priority. They do not merely exploit. They break the foundations of Bharat and target the vulnerable in the most unthinkable ways. Any passivity here is a direct threat to our children, vulnerable families, culture, future, and sovereignty.
