Jodhpur: Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation (SNU) has been running a free-of-cost Martial Art and Self-Defence Training Centre in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur for two years, aimed at empowerment and social integration of underprivileged children and youth – with a primary focus on Pakistani Hindu refugee children.
Since the centre’s launch in January 2024, students have bagged Gold and Silver medals at national-level karate championships four times – the most recent being the 4th Khel Karate National School Games, held on 24 – 25 January 2026 at Jaipur’s Gran Vihar Sports Complex where eight students won medals.
In a significant milestone, Karmchand Bhil (20), a student at the centre, has secured employment as a Physical Instructor at a well-known private school in Jodhpur. Karmchand is continuing his own education alongside this work, pursuing Class 12 through open schooling.
The centre currently trains around 70 children and young adults between the ages of 6 and 25. The participant base is close to 40% girls and 60% boys.
Beyond regular training sessions, the Foundation encourages participants to take part in sporting events and self-defence competitions, including league tournaments. These platforms are used to build confidence, discipline and leadership among participants, and to open up further career and educational opportunities.
The Jodhpur centre is part of Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation’s continuing work to integrate marginalised youth, including Pakistani Hindu refugee children, into mainstream education, sports and employment through skill development, self-defence training and mentorship.
