– Bareilly administration asked to respond after our complaint about a converted religious preacher still holding on Scheduled Caste benefits in violation of Para 3 of Constitution SC Order

– Six students of our Martial Arts Centre in Jodhpur won four Gold medals, one Silver and one Bronze at state-level Karate tournament

𝟏. 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟴 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟲

We filed an intervention before the Supreme Court in the suo motu proceedings on the right to privacy of adolescents, opposing any proposal to reduce the age of consent under the POCSO Act from 18 years to 16 years. Our founder Swati Goel Sharma filed it in the public interest, seeking permission to place legal, constitutional and child-protection considerations before the Court. The proceedings arose from a Calcutta High Court judgment, and a Bench of Justices B.V. Nagarathna and R. Mahadevan had controversial observed that the 15 to 18 age group is often one of experimentation and that parents frequently invoke criminal proceedings after their children elope.

Through our SC/ST cell, we raised a complaint against a sitting Member of Parliament who married under Christian rites at a church in Ranchi, despite being elected from the Scheduled Tribe reserved Rajmahal constituency in Jharkhand. We submitted that adopting institutional Christian practice indicates conversion and abandonment of traditional tribal custom and the Sarna faith, that this violates the constitutional intent of Scheduled Tribe reservation and that it compromises the legitimate political representation of genuine, non-converted indigenous tribal populations.

Taking cognisance, the National Human Rights Commission initiated an inquiry and issued notice to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Sahibganj District Magistrate for an action taken report. We complained that an instructor at Alpine International School in Thanabhawan, Shamli, arbitrarily prohibited students from wearing traditional religious symbols, specifically tilak and kalawa. On our complaint, the National Human Rights Commission took cognisance and issued notice to the Principal Secretary of Basic Education in Lucknow, the Chairman of the CBSE, the District Magistrate of Shamli and the Superintendent of Police of Shamli, seeking an action taken report within two weeks. We complained against a converted preacher, Prempal, over the misuse of Scheduled Caste reservation, following his arrest on 9 July 2026 under Freedom of Religion Act. We held an awareness workshop in Jain Nagar on the Supreme Court petition seeking to lower the age of sexual consent, and on how an adult partner’s concealed name or religion is used to draw a minor into exploitation. Again, we ran a workshop in Dheeraj Vihar, Rohini, where residents were taken through the age-of-consent proposals and the warning signs of exploitation through concealed identity and unlawful conversion. On 21 July, we conducted a free self-defence camp for over 100 schoolchildren at Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Chauka Village, in the Kairu Block near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The students learned martial arts techniques, situational awareness and the confidence to hold their ground under threat. We closed the session with fruit distribution and a message on health, safety and alertness. The camp is part of the self-defence and strength-training programme we run for children and youth. Six children we train free of cost at our Jodhpur centre won four gold, one silver and one bronze at the Rajasthan Karate Mega League. They learn martial arts and self-defence at the centre, and two years of that free training now shows in repeated wins from state meets to the national stage.
