अप्रायुवो रक्षितारो दिवेदिवे (यजुर्वेद 25.14)

𝟏. 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗮, 𝗥𝗮𝗷𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻.

Around 500 people, mostly tribal youth, were gathered in the name of youth festival in Shivpura village on 22 September. Eyewitness statement by a participant revealed that it was a conversion drive, and those who refused to convert were assaulted and subjected to casteist abuse. We escalated the case to Human Rights Commission, demanding protection for the complainant, arrest of all accused, invocation of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, probe into the funding behind the cash inducements in this notified Scheduled Area.

𝟐. 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗹, 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗵𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵, 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲-𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀

Under our ongoing program to train college students in these crimes, we held sessions at Sri Sathya Sai College for Women and at Sagar Institute of Research Technology and Science (Pharmacy). We alerted residents and village leaders about their tactics, threats of superstition-based conversions and the right questions to ask when approached by such rackets. At the end of the workshop, they vowed never to fall for such traps.
