We complained to the National Human Rights Commission that a large number of videos featuring minor children had been uploaded and publicly circulated through an Instagram handle stated to be operated from the Marehra area of Etah. The Bench headed by Priyank Kanoongo took strong cognisance and directed Etah police and administration to immediately identify the adult scripting, prompting, recording and uploading the videos and register FIRs wherever cognisable offences are disclosed. Meta India was directed to explain how repeated use of minors was permitted and to disclose whether the content generated any monetisation, and all four authorities were asked to submit Action Taken Reports within two weeks.

She had been chatting on Instagram with a man from Punjab, deleting the app each time she returned the phone to her mother, and two weeks ago went with him to Punjab. Our team stood with her mother and advocate @adumeshsharma filed a habeas corpus petition in court, after which police traced and rescued her and reunited her with her mother yesterday. She is being counselled by the Child Welfare Committee for a possible POCSO case.
