New Delhi, 8 November, 2025: Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation (SNU) has expressed deep concern over illegal construction of a religious structure on government land in West Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar, originally acquired for the construction of a public hospital, as revealed by a report in Rashtra Jyoti.

The organisation has demanded immediate action from the Delhi government and relevant civic authorities to remove the encroachment and restore the land to its rightful public use.

Notably, documents obtained through official records and Right to Information (RTI) replies by Save India Foundation by Preet Singh Sirohi reveal that the land on which the structure stands was never allotted, leased, or permitted for any religious use. The land was acquired in 1961 for public purposes and explicitly reserved for hospital construction.

In multiple RTI responses dated April 22, 2024, and June 6, 2025, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) categorically stated:

“No allotment has been made for Masjid at F-Block, Raghubir Nagar opposite Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, Delhi.”

To uphold the rule of law and ensure public access to the hospital, Save India Foundation filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court earlier this year. On October 29, 2025, a bench led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela directed DUSIB to attend to the complaint “with expedition” and, upon verification of land ownership, initiate legal action to remove the unauthorised structure.

We at Sewa Nyaya Utthan believe it to be a serious case of communal encroachment and administrative inaction, and call upon the authorities to act decisively to restore public trust in governance.

We are backing Save India Foundation in this ongoing legal battle.
