A youth named Tarun Kumar, 26, was lynched in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi, during Holi celebrations on 4 March 2026, allegedly after his niece accientally threw colour on a perosn belonging to another religion. Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation wrote to National Human Rights Commission to intervene and assure justice and compensation to the victim family.
NHRC member took cognizance of the complaint and also confirmed it on social media platform Twitter.
A notice was issued to Delhi police and other agencies in the matter. A reply from them is awaited. Sewa Nyaya Utthan will post updates and will follow up on the case.
Victim sustained severe injuries and died during treatment.
Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation subsequently filed complaint before National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), seeking urgent intervention, thorough investigation, protection for victim’s family and compensation.
